Descendants of Reverend Samuel J. Griswold

Reverend Samuel J. Griswold and his wife Clarrissa Pettingill were born in Washington County, NY in the 1790's. They were the parents of Samuel Hiram Griswold, who married Martha Jane Watrous in 1851. One of Samuel and Martha's daughters, Carrie Permelia Griswold, married Clarence Lucius Griggs in 1880 in Wilton Township.

The Griswold name was very prominent in early New England, and it has led to the existence of the "Griswold Name Society" in America. Research continues to determine the ancestry of Reverend Samuel J. Griswold.
