Judith Catherine "Judi" BETTHAUSER and Douglas Dale "Doug" DE WITT were married on 24 August 1968 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.28,114,115 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Douglas Dale "Doug" DE WITT, son of Clarence Albertis DE WITT and Maxine Mae HUBER, was born on 20 March 1943 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.9,37 He graduated in 1961 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.37 from Tomah High School. He died on 8 August 2005 at the age of 62 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.37

Obituary Notes: "Douglas Dale DeWitt, 62, of Tomah, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born on March 20, 1943, to Clarence "Kelly" and Maxine (Huber) DeWitt at Sparta. He was confirmed and baptized at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Doug attended elementary school at St. Paul's and graduated from Tomah High School in 1961. He attended the University of Wisconsin Stout Campus, Menomonie, and worked during the summer for Larkin's and Burnstad's in Tomah. He was united in marriage to Judith Betthauser on Aug. 24, 1968, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah.

After receiving his teaching degree from Stout, he taught high school at Sauk Prairie for two years. In 1972, they moved to Tomah and he took a position as parts manager at Larkin's Pontiac Dealership in Tomah and worked there for 35 years. He has been a lifelong active and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, serving as an usher most of his life. He was an active member of the Tomah Lions Club for 22 years and has served as the club's treasurer since 1988. He participated in all the club's fundraisers and committee projects and worked long hours and hardest on the Sport and Tractor Pull Committees. He was a 4-wheeler and enjoyed wheeling with people he had met at the tractor pulls. He enjoyed the outdoors, cutting wood and hunting. He especially enjoyed the cabin at B.A.L.D. Acres and time spent there with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Judith "Judi" of Tomah; two daughters, Krista (Randy) Groth of Bangor and Michelle (Todd) Tucker of Tomah; three grandchildren, Maddisen and Blake Groth and Gabriel Tucker; his mother, Maxine DeWitt of Tomah; four sisters, Kathy (Gerald) Knutsen of Chippewa Falls, Deborah of Tomah, Karyl Lynn Bruckner of Madison and Dawn (Jim) Spence of Tomah; his mother-in-law, Arlene Betthauser of Tomah; brothers-in-law Glen of Reedsburg, Gerald "Boomer" (Karen) of Camp Douglas, Michael (Kim) of Lyndon Station and Gregory (Carol) of Tomah; sisters-in-law Gloria (Gary) Shutter of Tomah, Cynthia (Brian) Abendschein of Fox Lake and Wendy (Todd) Wright of Millston.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Vicky, and his father-in-law, Alan Betthauser.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Phillip M. Enderle will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah."
Doug was buried on 12 August 2005 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.37 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
