3. William "Henry" COOME was born on 8 February 1841 in Cayuga County, NY.1,4,8,16 "Mr. Henry Coome received his early education in the district schools of Sauk County, which he supplemented with a course in the Baraboo high school. He remained at home assisting with the farm work until he was twenty-two years of age, when on April 1, 1864, he was married to Miss Eliza Watson of Baraboo, and they had one daughter, Lotta, who is now deceased."
He appeared in the census in 1850 in Sterling Township, Cayuga County, NY.5 He appeared in the census in 1860 in New Buffalo Township, Sauk County, WI.6 He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Farmer." Henry served in the military between 29 July 1862 and 28 December 1863 in Tennessee. He served as a Private in the Civil War.

He lived in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI after 1867.4,17 "In 1867 Mr. Coome came to Monroe County and engaged in general farming and stock raising; he later made a specialty of buying stock for the market, and was at one time one of the largest shippers from this county to the Chicago markets. He continued in this line of business until 1886, and then turned his exclusive attention to farming, which he followed until 1897.

He is indeed a man of ambition and energy, and worth of mention in this history of Monroe County; he is interested in all public improvements, ever ready to do all in his power for the good of the community, and while not a politician, he has taken an active interest in the affairs of the Republican party, and in 1897 was its candidate for sheriff." Between 1880 and 1900 he was a farmer in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.1,18 He owned a 40-acre farm as well as a 20-acre parcel in Sections 12 and 20. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.19 His household was on Foster Street in the 3rd Ward and his occupation was "None." (His surname is listed as "Cooms.") Henry appeared in the census in 1920 in Riverside, Riverside Township, Riverside County, CA.20 He and his wife were living with his wife's twin sister and her husband. He was retired.
He died on 21 July 1921 at the age of 80.2,4,10 He was buried in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.2,10,11 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery. (He is listed as "Henry H." on the gravestone.) (The gravestones of him and his wife Eliza list his name as "Henry H.")

William "Henry" COOME and Eliza E. WATSON were married on 24 March 1863 in Excelsior Township, Sauk County, WI.17,21 Eliza E. WATSON, daughter of James WATSON and Ann UNKNOWN (WATSON), was born on 19 October 1838 in Ovid, Seneca County, NY.10,17,21 (Her gravestone indicates that at her date of death she was 59 years, 5 months and 25 days old, indicating a birth date of 30 October 1838. The calculation may have been in error.) She appeared in the census in 1880 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.1 She died on 24 April 1898 at the age of 59 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.10,17,21 Obituary Note: "This community was shocked last Sunday morning with the news of the death of Mrs. Coome, wife of Henry Coome. The previous day, though not perfectly well, she was in her usual health and Mr. Coome left on a trip to Elroy. The fatal stroke came without warning at a late hour in the evening, when in passing from one room to another she fell in an unconscious state.

Her daughter, Mrs. Vandervort, summoned the assistance of neighbors, and physicians were at once sent for; but all efforts were unavailing. She remained in an unconscious condition and passed away at 4:30 A.M. Apoplexy is supposed to have been the cause of her death.

The deceased was born at Ovid, in the State of New York, Oct. 19th, 1838, and was therefore 69 (sic 59) years, 6 months. of age at the time of her death. She was the fifth daughter of James and Ann Watson, who reared a family of eight children to manhood and womanhood, only one of whom survives, wiz: Mrs. Mahlon Goodard of this city.

When she was about seven years of age the family moved to Franklin, New Jersey, where they lived until August 1854. She then moved with others of the family to Baraboo, Sauk County, Wis. She was married to William Henry Come on the 24th day of March 1863, in the town of Excelsior, Sauk County. To them was born one child, Mrs. Lottie Vandervort, now living in the town of LaGrange. Mr. and Mrs. Coome moved to LaGrange, Monroe County, in December 1864 and have lived in the county ever since, with the exception of two years spent in Sauk County.

In early life while living in Franklin, N.J., she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, to which she has ever since belonged, living a consistent Christian life. Her death is sincerely mourned by all who knew her worth and the sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved husband, daughter and sister.

The funeral was held in the LaGrange Church on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Charles Butters, and the interment was at the LaGrange Cemetery." Eliza was buried in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.2,8,10,11,17 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.

"Addie" STREET were married on 6 May 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.15,22,23 (The Monroe County Index to Early Marriage Registrations lists her as "Ida Hall." She was also listed as "Ida" in the 1880 Census. Both are believed to have been in error.) Adda F. "Addie" STREET, daughter of Samuel STREET and Eliza STEVENS, was born on 8 November 1862 in Wisconsin.1,3,16,19,24 (She was listed as "Adda" in the 1880 Census, but as "Addie" in other sources.) She appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 She was living with her sister in the home of John and "Loisa" Bracker. Her father had died in 1862, and her mother had re-married. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1 She was living with her mother and step-father and her occupation was "At School." Her surname was listed as "Bracker." Addie appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16 She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11,19 She appeared in the census in 1920 in Riverside, Riverside Township, Riverside County, CA.20 She and her husband were living with her twin sister and her husband. Addie appeared in the census in 1930 in Pasadena, Pasadena Township, Los Angeles County, CA.25 Her household was at 1668 Orange Grove Avenue, next to that of her sister and her husband. She was renting.
