Descendants of Anschitil de Bayeux

Anschitil de Bayeux and his wife, Alix (Unknown) were born in about 970 and are the earliest-known ancestors of the Bacon family, some of which emigrated to America in the 1600's.

One of their descendants, Dorothy Bacon and her husband, John Riches Smith, were the parents of Rhoda Bacon Smith. Rhoda married Stephen Chandler Griggs in Connecticut in 1807, and they were the parents of Lucius Smith Griggs, who established the first drug store in Tomah in 1865.
