James died on 15 January 1908 at the age of 57 in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO.⁸⁰ He was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire, Eau Claire Township, Eau Claire County, WI.⁸⁰

James Ira RICHARDSON and Katherine BERRY were married.⁸⁰ Katherine BERRY was born on 28 September 1860 in Bourbon County, KY.⁸⁰ She died on 3 June 1933 at the age of 72 in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO.⁸⁰ Obituary Notes: "Dr. Katharine Richardson (medical doctor) and her sister Dr. Alice Graham (dentist) were the founders of Mercy Hospital, aka Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Katharine was the director of the hospital for 20 years, during which time she never took a salary. A devout nature lover, Katharine's funeral took place under her favorite maple tree on the hospital grounds. Katharine and Alice are buried side by side here."

She was buried at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Jackson County, MO.⁸⁰
