EDGERTON was born in December 1841 in Lebanon, New London County, CT.^{1,2,4,6,13,14} She appeared in the census in 1850 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.⁵ She appeared in the census in 1860 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.² Martha appeared in the census in 1870 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁰ She appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ She was a widow and living with her son Thomas at the time of the 1910 Census. She died in 1923 at the age of 82.⁷ Martha was buried in 1923 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.

Martha S. EDGERTON and Thomas Nelson FORREST were married on 6 November 1859.^1,21,22 Thomas Nelson FORREST, son of William FORREST and (Unknown) UNKNOWN (FORREST), was born on 18 August 1823 in Carluke, Lanark County, Scotland.^6,7,21,22 (His gravestone lists his birth year as 1826.) He emigrated in 1846 from Carluke, Lanark County, Scotland. He was one of the pioneer settlers in Monroe County, coming in 1855 with William Taft. He lived in Walworth County from 1846 until 1855. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.² Thomas appeared in the census in 1870 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁰ He appeared in the census in 1880 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ His occupation was listed as "farmer." He died on 19 February 1903 at the age of 79 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.^4,22 Thomas was buried in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.^4,7 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.
