Shirley GOETZKA and Joseph "Joe" BENOIT were married.30 Joseph "Joe" BENOIT was born on 23 April 1942 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.67 He died on 29 October 2014 at the age of 72 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.67

Obituary Notes: "Joseph A. Benoit, 72, of Tomah passed away peacefully Oct. 29, 2014, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born April 23, 1942, in Tomah, to Harold and Frances (Mehleis) Benoit.

He graduated in Tomah in 1960 and later that year, joined the U.S. Army. He then married Renee Jaeger in 1963. To this union two children were born. They were later divorced but remained good friends throughout the years.

Joe later moved to Racine, and married Shirley Van Dinter. They both retired and relocated to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where they were active in their church and did missionary work.

Joe enjoyed painting, playing cards with friends and going to the casino during his retirement, listening to his good old country music and Johnny Cash, but he especially loved sports, especially his Packers. Joe also belonged to the American Legion. He spent his last few years of life with Bonnie Bussert doing the things he enjoyed.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Lisa Boss of Sparta; and son, Eric Benoit (Cheryl) of Whitehall, Ark.; five stepchildren, Randall Van Dinter (Charlene) of Henderson, Nev., Robert Van Dinter of Panama City, Fla., Renee Flynn (Tim) of Ostego, Minn., Roxanne Santiago of Las Vegas, and Rhonda Van Dinter of Elgin, Ill.; his siblings, Kathryn Lamb of Beloit, Wis., Harold Benoit Jr. (Jim) of Tomah, Joanne Wiegand (Bill) of West Bloomfield, Mich., Susan Fiedler (Greg) of Huntersville, N.C., and Timothy Benoit (Julie) of Franklin, Wis.; his 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and his significant other, Bonnie Bussert of Tomah.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Frances; his wife, Shirley; and his grandson, Derick Benoit of Sparta.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of donor’s choice. Joe and his family would like to thank the staff at the Serenity House for their compassionate care in keeping him comfortable in his last remaining days."
