Leslie Edward GAMERDINGER and Leola Anna WESTPFAHL were married on 27 November 1929 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.21,32,33 Leola Anna WESTPFAHL, daughter of August Hermann Robert WESTPFAHL and Ella E. E. NEAS, was born on 29 March 1912 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.15,21,34 She was baptized on 12 May 1912 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.21,34 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.6 Leola died on 1 August 2003 at the age of 91 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.21

Obituary Notes: "Leola A. Gamerdinger, 91, of Tomah, went to be with her Lord, Aug. 1, 2003. She was born March 29, 1912, to August and Ella (Neas) Westpfahl in the Township of Adrian. Leola was baptized and confirmed at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville. She was united in marriage to Leslie E. Gamerdinger on Nov. 27, 1929, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, and a member of the Grace Mission Circle. She was a longtime member of the Valleyette Homemakers Club and the Railroad Women's Club. She was a member of the Monroe, Juneau, and Jackson County Genealogy Workshop. In addition to raising her large family, Leola still found time to work for the Gasper Restaurant, Miller's Drugstore and Fort McCoy; she managed Gert Smith's Diner and worked for the Clean Towel Service.

To this union were born eight children, Arlene (Wayne) Birkeness and Marcella Fritz, both of Tomah, Donald (Norma) Gamerdinger of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Helen (Vincent) Rowan of Tomah, Arlys Maas of Oconto, Lucille (Stanley) Varney of Tomah, Grace (Gerald) Beltz of Menomonee Falls, and Howard Gamerdinger, who preceded her in death April 7, 2003.

She is survived by a brother, Elder "Ted" Westpfahl; two sisters-in-law, Irene Neas and Gertrude Westpfahl; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to son Howard, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her parents, August and Ella Westpfahl; four brothers, Otto, Gilbert, Herbert and Harold Westpfahl; three sisters-in-law, Ethelyn, Theresa and Edna Westpfahl; a son-in-law, Sydney Fritz; two grandchildren, Sheila Rowan and Jeremy Birkeness; two great-grandchildren, Kari Rowan and Gwendolyn Rowan.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug, 4, at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave. Pastor Donald R. Buch officiated. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Town of Tomah.

Visitation was Sunday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family requests that memorials be given to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church or the American Cancer Society in Leola's name."
She was buried on 4 August 2003 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.20,21 in the Mount Vernon-Jacksonville Cemetery. She was confirmed in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.21 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
