1. Sir Matthew GOUGH Knight was born in 1386 in Maelor, Monmouthshire, Wales.1 The Maelor is an area of north-east Wales along the border with England. It is now entirely part of Wrexham County Borough. The name Maelor is an old Welsh word: it can be translated as "land of the prince", from mael "prince" and llawr "low ground" "region." He died on 4 July 1450 at the age of 64 in London, Middlesex County, England.1,2 He was killed on the London Bridge, defending the city of London. He was buried in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England.2

Sir Matthew GOUGH Knight and Margred VERCH RHYS MOETHE were married in 1438 in Monmouthshire, Wales.1 Margred VERCH RHYS MOETHE was born (date unknown).
