Tyler Palmer GRIFFIN and Sophronia SWEET were married before 1870.1,7,9 Sophronia SWEET, daughter of Abial Benjamin SWEET and Lida WILCOX, was born on 2 July 1824 in Pennsylvania.7 She died on 12 May 1907 at the age of 82 in Ladysmith, Rusk County, WI.7 Obituary Notes: "Mrs. Saphorona Griffin died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Peter Gordon Sunday, May 12. Mrs. Griffin was born in Connecticut and was eighty-two years of age. She leaves two brothers, William Sweet and Albert Sweet of Bloomer who were both here at the time of her death. There are four daughters: Mrs. Peter Gordon of Ladysmith, Mrs. Silas Calkins of Chetek, Mrs. Mike Alton of Marshfield, and another in Pennsylvania. A short funeral service was held at the home Tuesday by Rev. D. Jayne and the body was shipped to Chetek for burial in the town of Rusk." |
