16. Clarissa "Lydia" EVANS22 was born on 29 April 1845 in Allegany County, NY.11,42 (She was listed as "Clarissa" in the 1860 Census.) She appeared in the census in 1850 in Hornellsville Township, Steuben County, NY.41 (Her name was listed as "Clarissa" in the Census.) She appeared in the census in 1855 in Hornellsville Township, Steuben County, NY.22 She was listed as "Clarissa," although she was also known as "Clara Ann." Lydia appeared in the census in 1860 in Portville Township, Cattaraugus County, NY.42 She lived at her home in Oakdale, Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI between 1883 and 1902.11 She appeared in the census in 1900 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.6 The 1900 Census indicates that she had 2 children, of whom 1 was still living. Lydia lived at her home in Whidbey Island, Island County, WA after 1902.11,112 She died on 6 February 1907 at the age of 61 in Whidbey Island, Island County, WA.11

Obituary Notes: "Mrs. Clara Ann Garland, the only daughter of Charles and Jane Evans, was born in Allegany County, N.Y., April 29, 1845, and died at her home in Whidly (Whidbey) Island, Washington, February 6, 1907. In the year 1865 she was united in marriage to Mr. J. W. Fish. This union was blest with one son and one daughter. After some years her husband died. In the fall of 1883 she was converted while living in Oakdale, Wisconsin, under the labors of the Rev. W. G. Hanmer, and united with the Free Methodist Church. In November 1890, she was married to John W. Garland, To this union was given one daughter.

In 1902 they moved to Washington. For many years she lived a consistent Christian life. She labored for the master untiringly and uncomplainingly and ever evinced a willingness to do her part and bear her share of the burdens.

Her illness lasted for some time, and while she suffered much, she bore it with great patience and Christian fortitude. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Chapin and the writer. Text: John 13:1-3.

Clarissa "Lydia" EVANS and John W. GARLAND were married on 29 March 1890 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,10,11,106,113 (The Marriage Registration Index lists her name as "Clara E. Fish.") John W. GARLAND, son of William GARLAND and Alica UNKNOWN (GARLAND), was born in March 1866 in Wisconsin.6 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.58 He appeared in the census in 1900 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.6

Clarissa "Lydia" EVANS and J. W. FISH were married in 1865.11 J. W. FISH died before 1883.11
