Joachim Johann "John" GRUETZMACHER was born on 15 April 1831 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3 (His family surname is spelled "Grutzmacher" in the Oak Grove Cemetery records.) He emigrated in 1866 from Preussen (Prussia).2 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1 His occupation was listed as "Farmer." John appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2 His household consisted of him; his wife; his step-son, William Gruetzmacher, age 38; and his grandson, Otto Gruetzmacher, age 19. His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 22 March 1901 at the age of 69.3 He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Section OP, Block 1, Lot 20.

Lena appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2 She died on 16 September 1902 at the age of 66 in Monroe County, WI.3,4 She was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
