Joachim Johann "John" GRUETZMACHER was born on 15 April 1831 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,2,3 (His family surname is spelled "Grutzmacher" in the Oak Grove Cemetery records.) He emigrated in 1866 from Preussen (Prussia).² He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ His occupation was listed as "Farmer." John appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.² His household consisted of him; his wife; his step-son, William Gruetzmacher, age 38; and his grandson, Otto Gruetzmacher, age 19. His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 22 March 1901 at the age of 69.³ He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Section OP, Block 1, Lot 20.

Lena appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.² She died on 16 September 1902 at the age of 66 in Monroe County, WI.^3,4 She was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
