Descendants of Johann Friedrich Jens

Johann Friedrich Jens is believed to have been born in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province of Prussia in about 1755. His first wife died of childbirth in 1795 and he married Maria Elisabeth Husfeldt. The fourth son from his second marriage was Johann Christian Christoph Ludewig Jens, who was born in 1802.

Johann Christian and his wife, Catherine Schnell, emigrated with their children to America in the mid-1800’s and eventually settled in Monroe County. Their children married into families such as Peters, Schnell, Schulz, and Helmke.

All of the Jens families in Monroe County are believed to have descended from Johann and Catherine.
