24. Martin George "Jack" KUEHL was born on 18 September 1920 in Monroe County, WI.24,33 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.24 He died on 10 February 2007 at the age of 86 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.37

Obituary Notes: "Martin “Jack” George Kuehl, age 86, of Tomah, WI, passed away Feb. 10, 2007, at the Tomah VA Medical Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1920, in rural Tomah to Frank A. and Emma (Kemnow) Kuehl. Martin attended the Lutheran School in Tomah and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. He graduated from Tomah High School in 1940. In 1942, Martin was drafted into the Army and served under General Patton during World War II. On Jan. 5, 1943, he married Vera Boettcher. Together they raised their family and lived all of their lives in Tomah. Martin worked many years for the Milwaukee Railroad. He later went to work at the VA hospital, retiring in September of 1980.

Martin was an outdoor person; he loved hunting, fishing, camping and traveling to various places around the country and the world. He was always ready for a good game of cards, which was his favorite indoor hobby. Even into his later years, he continued to enjoy all these hobbies with his sons and grandsons.

Those who will miss Martin include: his wife, Vera; three children, Arlene (Mark) Fagasa of Virginia, Craig (Christie) Kuehl of Tomah and Douglas (Judy) Kuehl of Georgia; eight grandchildren, Christopher Coleman of Hawaii and Deseree (Anthony) Rushford of Alaska, Tammia Kotenbeutal of La Crosse, Trevor Ward (Rana Lamprecht) of Madison, Brandon and Gus Kuehl of Tomah, Adam Kuehl of Arizona and David Kuehl of Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Dylan Kotenbeutal of La Crosse and Sawyer Rushford of Alaska. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Raymond (Doris) Boettcher; sisters-in-law, Ellen Boettcher, Ethel Boettcher and Gert Westpfahl, all from Tomah, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma; an infant son, Robert; a daughter, Barbara Ward Anderson; an infant grandchild; five sisters, Florence, Edna, Alice, Emma and Beatrice; and four brothers, Frank, Harold, Howard and William.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Donald Buch officiated. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah with military honors by Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post 201. Visitation was Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.

Martin George "Jack" KUEHL and Vera Alma BOETTCHER were married in January 1943.29 Vera Alma BOETTCHER, daughter of Paul August BOETTCHER and Clara GRIMM, was born on 16 October 1927 in Monroe County, WI.33 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.24 She graduated in 1945 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.54 from Tomah High School.
