Descendants of Josef Kucera

Josef Kucera was born about 1745 in Bohemia--now the Czech Republic. He and his unknown wife are the earliest-known ancestors of a branch of the Kucera family that eventually emigrated to America in the 1880's and settled in the Baltimore, MD, area.

One of their great-grandsons, Karel Kucera, was born in 1847 in Plzen (Pilsen), about 60 miles southwest of Prague, and he and his wife, Katerina Kirchmann were the first known members of this branch of the Kucera family to emigrate to America.

One of Karel's great-granddaughters, Barbara Sharon Lee Serp, married Gary Griggs in 1963.
