Martin John SCHINDLER Jr. and Janice SMITH were married on 6 January 1956 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.25,73 Janice SMITH, daughter of William SMITH and Florence ANEY, was born on 1 July 1928 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.73 She died on 30 June 2010 at the age of 81 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.73

Obituary Notes: "Janice M. Schindler, 81, of Kendall, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, under the care of her daughter Paula, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born July 1, 1928, to William and Florence (Aney) Smith at Kendall, Wisconsin. She was baptized on August 5, 1928, and confirmed on March 29, 1942, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to M. John Schindler on October 6, 1956, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Together they made their home and raised a family in Kendall.

She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans for her children and grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, doll collecting, and deer hunting. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. She loved to take long car rides with her husband looking for deer and enjoying the scenery. She also loved her trips to the Dairy Queen for lunch with her husband and dog Queenie. She was a lifelong faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her husband, John of Kendall; a son James (Beverly Brandsteter) Smith of Elkhorn, Wis.; three daughters Deborah (Doug) Elder, Patricia Young, and Paula (Timothy) Drea all of Kendall; her grandchildren, Ann Marie (Jeremy) Husnik of West Allis, Wis., Laura (Chris) Shilling of Whitefish Bay, Brandi (Tim) Shore of Hillsboro, Jeremy Elder of Hillsboro, Justin (Danielle) Elder of Elroy, John (Kelli) Young of Kendall, Jaime (Gab) Angeles of Tacoma, Wash., Jeanna Young and Janessa Young both of Kendall, and Kelsey Drea of Kendall; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law Lyle (Betsy) Schindler of Hughes Springs, Texas, and David Schindler of Costa Mesa, Calif.; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Smith; her brothers Gibb, David, Robert and sister Fern Mashak; a son-in-law Jerome Young; and mother and father-in-law Martin and Leona Schindler; two brothers-in-law Thomas and Norman Schindler.

Memorial Services were held on Saturday, July 3, 2010, 11a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kendall. Pastor Steven Neuman officiated. Relatives and friends called at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall assisted the family with arrangements. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Dairy Queen in Tomah for all their love and kindness. The family has asked in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Wisconsin."
