Descendants of Michael Lachelt

Michael Lachelt and his wife Anne Rosine Loper were born in the Posen Province of Prussia in about 1800.

Their son, Johann Gottlieb Lachelt, and his wife, Ernestine Passert, were born in the 1840's and emigrated to America in about 1870. Their family of 12 children eventually settled in Monroe County and married into families such as Gottbehuet, Sweet, Zimmerman and Sonnenberg.

They are the earliest known ancestors of the Lachelt/Laechelt families that lived in the Tomah area.
