Obituary Notes: "Lena May Hoag, daughter of Philip and Naoma Hoag, was born at Sodum, Mich., Aug. 10, 1866, and passed away at her home near Tomah, Dec. 22, 1938, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 12 days.

At the age of two, she moved with her parents to a farm near Tomah, where she lived until she was 14 years of age. At this time, after the death of her father, the family moved to Tomah. At the age of 22 she was married to William Lea James. To this union, five children were born: Mrs. John Paddock of Millston, Mrs. Wesley Reynolds of Warrens, Philip of Tomah, Kenneth of Detroit, Mich., and Bert of Robertsdale, Pa.

After coming to Wisconsin, she spent all her life in and near Tomah. She was a member of the Methodist church for 40 years. The last 14 years she was a member of the Church of God. She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps.

She has left to mourn her departure her husband and five children, one sister, Mrs. Andrew Lambert, and one brother, Mr. Bert Hoag, 19 grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.

She has been a sufferer for the past several years and passed away peacefully at 1:45 Thursday morning. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Ninneman Funeral Home, the Rev. M. O. Schutjer officiating. Interment was in the Kirby cemetery."

She was buried on 24 December 1938 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.17,18,50 in the Lincoln-Peterson-Kirby Cemetery. (A source identified as "bartls2" on Ancestry.com lists her name as "Elenor Mae (Lena).")
