63. Roger William LOBE was born on 6 February 1931 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,29 He died on 26 November 2015 at the age of 84 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.106

Obituary Notes: "Roger W. Lobe, 84, of Tomah passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1931, to William and Sophia (Eirschele) Lobe on the family farm in the Township of Tomah. Roger attended Hill Country School and was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1948.

On June 15, 1955, Roger was united in marriage to Janice Grimshaw at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Roger proudly farmed his whole life on his family farm. He won the award for young farmer of the year by the Jaycees. Roger loved the outdoors; he enjoyed pheasant hunting with his son, Dan, fishing and being on the farm. He also enjoyed watching western movies and history programs. Roger was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan; he was thrilled to have attended the “Ice Bowl” and later Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans, with his daughter, Julia.

Roger was the type of guy that once you met, you would never forget him. He was soft spoken, hardworking and kind with a playful personality. Roger’s grandchildren were his pride and joy; spending time with them on the farm and being part of their accomplishments was something he especially enjoyed. He was a faithful and devoted member of Queen of the Apostles Parish, serving as an usher for many years, a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the board of directors for the Tomah Coop for over 20 years

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice; two children, Julia Eckelberg of Tomah, and Dan (Becky) Lobe of Mondovi; four grandchildren, Brandon (Courtney) Schreiber of Fayetteville, N.C., Kaysie (fiancé Phil Halloway) Eckelberg of Tomah, Tristan Lobe of Mondovi, Sophie Eckelberg of Tomah; four great-grandchildren, Bennett, Conner, Madelyn Schreiber and Paislee Holloway; a sister, Kathryn Ludeking of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Hazel Blado of Tomah; and a brother-in-law, Don Grimshaw; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Margaret Williams, 3 infant brothers, Arthur, Lloyd and LaVerne, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary’s Church, 303 W. Monroe Street, Tomah. Father Clayton Elmhorst will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery."

Roger William LOBE and Janice Faye GRIMSHAW were married on 15 June 1955 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,107 Janice Faye GRIMSHAW, daughter of Albert GRIMSHAW and Nevis HUFFMAN, was born on 16 June 1935 in Kingston Township, Juneau County, WI.4 She graduated in 1953 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.108 from Tomah High School. She died on 20 November 2022 at the age of 87 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.109 Obituary Notes: "Janice Faye (Grimshaw) Lobe 87 of Tomah passed away peacefully Sunday November 20th in the company of her daughter and the caring staff at Our Town Tomah Assisted Living.

Janice was born July 16, 1935, to Albert and Nevis (Huffman) Grimshaw in Mather, WI. She was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1953. She attended Juneau County Normal School, graduating in 1955 with an elementary teaching certificate.

Janice was united in marriage to Roger Lobe June 15,1955. She was a teacher at both Reels Valley & Hill Valley rural country schools until leaving to raise a family. After her children were grown, she worked at Shelly's Fine Fashions in Tomah and was also a familiar face in the Burnstads Deli until her retirement.

Janice was a housewife who enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and reading while working alongside her husband on the family farm.

She was a member of Queen of the Apostles St Mary's Catholic Church, served in the PCCW, Homemakers and PTA. She was always willing to help in some capacity to several organizations or functions. Along with Roger and some dear, lifelong friends she looked forward to the monthly card club.

Janice treasured the simple things. A good meal with family, baking pies and holiday favorites with her friends, the beauty of the farm and livestock and the peace of country living.

Her greatest joy was her family. Raising her 2 children and in later years the pleasure of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a strong, kind, and loving mother, sister, and friend. A devoted wife and woman of faith with a sense of humor. She will be dearly missed.

Janice is survived by her children, a daughter, Julia (Lobe) Eckelberg and son Daniel (Becky) Lobe. A sister Hazel (Grimshaw) Blado of Tomah. 4 grandchildren Brandon (Courtney) Schreiber of Camden NC, Kaysie (Phil) Holloway of Tomah, Tristan Lobe of Pittsboro NC, and Sophie (Dalton) Gnewikow of Wilton WI as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60yrs Roger Lobe, her parents, a sister Beverly (Grimshaw) Perry, brother-in-law Howard Perry, brother-in-law Rueben Blado and brother Donald Grimshaw along with other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, 11:00 AM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
