236. Darlene Joyce PETH was born on 25 December 1931 in Monroe County, WI.87,333 She appeared in the census in 1940 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.111 She died on 31 March 2009 at the age of 77 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.334

Obituary Notes: "Darlene J. Jenks, 77, of Tomah, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Tomah Health Care Center. She was born Dec. 25, 1931, to Arthur and Helen (Sonnenburg) Peth at Dorset Ridge. She was baptized into the Christian faith on Jan. 24, 1932, and confirmed on June 11, 1945, at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church at Indian Creek. She attended elementary school on Dorset Ridge. Darlene was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Wilton High School.

She was united in marriage to Arlie Jenks Feb. 21, 1953, at the family farm. She was a member of the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church Esther Circle. She enjoyed bowling and was a league member for several years. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Arlie; a son, Arlie Jr. (Debbie) of La Crosse; two daughters, Donette (Jerry) Mashin and Constance “Connie” (Harley) Nicks, both of Tomah; eight grandchildren, Tim Jenks of La Crosse, MN, Alex Jenks of Chattanooga, TN, Shawna Anderson (fiancé Daren Moran) of De Forest, Greg Gorbet, James Nicks (Danielle) of New Auburn, and Jacqueline Decarro of Wausau, Travis Mashin of Sacramento, CA, and Diana (Dan) Montoya of Denver, CO; 11 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Delsie, Tiffanie, Roberta, Kyle, Alicia, Austin, Dakota, Cheyenne, Alex and Angel; a sister, Aleda (Gene) Moseley of Warrens, and a brother, Larry (Marlene) Peth of Tomah; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Peth and Mary Jane Peth, both of Tomah; and brothers-in-law, Roger (Eileen) Pasch of Janesville and Robert Pasch of Janesville, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, DeVere and Gary Peth.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Curt S. Backhaus and Pastor David T. Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Relatives and friends are invited to call today (Thursday), from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service."

Darlene Joyce PETH and Arlie Eugene JENKS Sr. were married on 21 February 1953 in Dorset Ridge, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.205,333 Arlie Eugene JENKS Sr., son of (Unknown) UNKNOWN and Margaret Elaine JENKS, was born on 21 August 1930 in Monroe County, WI.87 He died on 18 May 2009 at the age of 78 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.205,335

Obituary Notes: "Arlie Eugene Jenks, 78, of Tomah, joined his wife in heaven on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Tomah. He was born Aug. 21, 1930. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended Sherman Burroughs High School in China Lake, CA.

He was united in marriage to Darlene Peth, Feb. 21, 1953, at the family farm. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2009. Arlie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served his country for 20 years. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany for two overseas tours. He helped coach Little League and worked as a sports official for several years, refereeing for all levels of sports from children to pro athletes, and he refereed for the Harlem Globetrotters. After retirement, he worked at the VA Medical Center in laundry services and later in security.

Arlie enjoyed woodworking and bowling. He was a member of Curtis-McNutt V.F.W. Post #1382.

He is survived by a son, Arlie Jr. (Debbie) of La Crosse; two daughters, Donette (Jerry) Mashin and Constance "Connie" (Harley) Nicks, both of Tomah; eight grandchildren, Tim Jenks of La Crosse, Alex Jenks of St. Louis, MO, Shawna Anderson (fiancé Daren Moran) of DeForest, Greg Gorbet, James Nicks (Danielle) of New Auburn, and Jacqueline (fiancé Robert Van Erp) Nicks of Wausau, Travis Mashin of Sacramento, CA, and Diana (Dan) Montoya of Denver, CO; 11 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Delsie, Tiffanie, Roberta, Kyle, Alicia, Austin, Dakota, Cheyenne, Alex and Angel; two brothers, Roger (Eileen) Pasch and Robert Pasch, both of Janesville; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Peth and Mary Jane Peth, both of Tomah, and Aleda (Gene) Moseley of Warrens, and a brother-in-law, Larry (Marlene) Peth of Tomah, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Elmer Pasch, and his mother, Margaret Jenks-Pasch; his wife, Darlene; a brother, Derald; two brothers-in-law, DeVere and Gary Peth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch officiated. Burial with military honors by Curtis-McNutt V.F.W. Post #1382 was in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, Tomah."
