Descendants of Joachim Marten

Joachim Marten and his unknown wife are believed to have been born in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province of Prussia in the late-1600's.

One of their great-great-grandsons, Johann Joachim “David” Martin, was born in Prussia in 1799 and married Anna Christina “Friederike” Rumpel in 1828. They and three of their four children emigrated to America in 1856 and settled in Tomah Township; the fourth child died in Prussia.
The surviving children married into the Helmcke, Linke and Marten families.

(It is not known if Joachim was an ancestor of Christian Friedrich Marten, who lived in the same province and whose descendants are detailed in another report on this website.)
