Katie appeared in the census in 1900 in Milbank, Grant County, SD.²³ She appeared in the census in 1910 in Santa Cruz, Branciforte Township, Santa Cruz County, CA.²³ She appeared in the census in 1920 in Santa Cruz, Branciforte Township, Santa Cruz County, CA.²⁴ Katie appeared in the census in 1930 in Santa Cruz, Branciforte Township, Santa Cruz County, CA.²⁵ She died on 1 May 1938 at the age of 77 in Santa Cruz, Branciforte Township, Santa Cruz County, CA.^5,8,9

Kate Katura "Katie" MEDD and William Edgar "Will" VANDERVORT were married on 22 February 1882 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.^{5,9,16,26,27,28,29,30} They were married at the home of the bride's parents. At the time of their marriage, Will was living in Odessa, MN, and Kate was living in LaGrange Township.

From an article in the March 25, 1882 Tomah Journal: "The young men, Wm. E. and J. Vandervort, who left here last week for Odessa, Minnesota, arrived at their destination all well." William Edgar "Will" VANDERVORT, son of Cornelius VANDERVORT and Julia Ann GETMAN, was born on 12 August 1858 in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, WI.^{7,8,9,27,31,32} He appeared in the census in 1860 in Monterey, Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, WI.²³ He appeared in the census in 1875 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.³³ Will appeared in the census in 1880 in Yellow Bank Township, Lac Qui Parle, MN.^23,34 He was living next door to his brother Lewis. Will homesteaded the land with his brother Lewis in Lac Qui Parle County, purchasing the land in October 1881 for $1.25 per acre. The land was sold five years later for $412.50 per acre. William lived in Milbank, SD, after the land sale, until he moved to Santa Cruz, CA, in 1908. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Milbank, Grant County, SD.²³ He lived at his home in Milbank, Grant County, SD in October 1906.³⁵ Will appeared in the census in 1910 in Santa Cruz, Branciforte Township, Santa Cruz County, CA.²³ His household was at 87 Windham Street.

Obituary Notes: "In Santa Cruz, October 21, 1937, William Edgar Vandervort, age 79 years, native of Wisconsin. Funeral will be held today (Saturday) at 2 o'clock from the White Mortuary chapel. Friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment at the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery."

E. Vandervort died on Thursday afternoon about 5 o'clock. The babe was between two and three weeks old. The funeral will be at the house at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow, Saturday afternoon." The Vandervort Family Bible lists her age as 13 days when she died.
