He appeared in the census in 1930 in Hamburg, Hamburg Township, Wells County, ND.19 Ernst died on 11 January 1936 at the age of 68 in Fessenden, West Norway Township, Wells County, ND.1,9 He was buried in Hamburg, Hamburg Township, Wells County, ND.1 in the Concordia Cemetery.

Ernst August Carl AFFELDT and Ida Emilie BREHMER were married on 24 March 1897 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.1,9,18,20,21,22 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. (Her surname is spelled "Bremer" in the marriage records.) They had five children. Ida Emilie BREHMER, daughter of Johann Friedrich Wilhelm BREHMER and Dorothea Sophia PERGANDE, was born on 17 September 1873 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,9,18,21,23,24,25 She was baptized on 6 October 1873 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.24 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her sponsors were Wilhelmine Kuhn and Johann Bartels. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.23 Ida was confirmed on 3 April 1887 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.24 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1910 in West Norway Township, Wells County, ND.8 She appeared in the census in 1920 in West Norway Township, Wells County, ND.10 Ida lived at her home in Fessenden, West Norway Township, Wells County, ND in October 1925.26 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Hamburg, Hamburg Township, Wells County, ND.19 She died on 21 November 1953 at the age of 80 in Fargo, Cass County, ND.1,9,21,27 Ida was buried on 25 November 1953 in Hamburg, Hamburg Township, Wells County, ND.1,27 in the Concordia Cemetery. This beautiful cemetery is situated one mile west and south from the Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church. All of the stones are in perfect lines; beautiful trees surround three sides and a fence borders the fourth side. All of this cemetery is very well kept and well loved. Stones are in excellent shape and the grass is perfectly mown. The people buried here, for the most part, are German Lutherans. This cemetery dates back to the early-1900s and is still in use occasionally.
