Descendants of Adam de Lauton (de Kenyon/Kenyon)

Adam de Lauton and his unknown wife were born in about 1083 in England, and is the earliest-known ancestor of the Kenyon families of Monroe County, Wisconsin. They were the 15th great-great-grandparents of James Kenyon, Sr, who--with his wife Esther Sherman Smith--emigrated from England to Rhode Island in about 1660.

One of James and Esther's 4th great-great-grandsons, Charles Wesley Kenyon (1837-1910), and his wife, Adelaide Fredora Purdy (1843-1928), moved from New York State to Greenfield Township in Monroe County, WI in about 1865. They were the origin of most (if not all) of the Kenyon families that have lived in Monroe County.

As shown in the report, the family surname has changed from de Lauton to de Kenyon to Kenyon over the 1,200 years or so since Adam was born.
