Descendants of Ralph le Boteler I

Ralph le Boteler I was born in Basse-Normandie (Normandy) in northwest France in about 1035. His son, Ralph II, was born in Stratford on Avon, England, and his descendants remained in England for about 600 years, until the Leonard branch of his family emigrated to America in about 1630.

The original de Boteler line descended down the ancestral chain through 30 generations over 900 years of members of the de Boteler, Harmon, Leonard, Keep, Miller, Noble, and Root families, until it reached Eva Jane Root, who was born in 1884 in Tomah Township. Eva married Samuel Hiram Griggs in 1908 and they were the parents of Blanche, Glenn and Vern Griggs.

To track the line down to Eva, follow the people with a (!) sign following their name, until it reaches Margaret Boteler (born abt 1490). Then follow her descendants with a (*) or (*+) sign.
