Micajah COVELL, son of James COVELL and Sarah GROVER, was born on 9 September 1746 in Killingly (now Putnam Heights), Windham County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.24,42 He was baptized at the Congregational Church, Plainfield, CT on 12-17-1746. When Micajah was about 10 years old, his parents moved to New York, settling first at Dover, then White Creek and Granville. Sarah Soule was a Quaker, she was disowned by the Quakers for "marrying outside," but was received back when Micajah became a Quaker. The family lived first in White Creek, moving to Montgomery County and they lived for a time in Saratoga Co. He married Hannah Barker in 1800, She signed the marriage contract for Avis in October 1800. In 1817 the family moved to Short Creek, Delaware Co., Ohio. The following December, Micajah bought land in Bennington Township. After the death of Hannah, Micajah returned to DeRuter to live with his daughter Avis.
