596. Lucinda GRIGGS was born in 1808 in Greene County, NY.^{281,358,359,360,361} (Her connection to the Gary Griggs ancestoral family is not known. She is not the Lucinda B. Griggs who is mentioned on the Vermont Historical Society Library web page--a daughter of Stephen Griggs and Rhoda Bacon Smith. That Lucinda B.'s birth date is listed as 8/27/1809 and her date of death as 3/27/1892. The website also refers to a Lucinda Griggs Howe, who was Stephen's daughter.

This Lucinda's dates of birth and death (1808-1876) are from a gravestone in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah, WI, and her obituary. The tombstone is northwest of the Lucius S. Griggs lot--a likely relative.

Her birthplace is listed in her son John's Census records as: 1880: New York; 1900: New Hampshire; and 1910: Rhode Island. It is believed to have been New York, because she was there in the 1810 Census.) She appeared in the census in 1810 in Durham, Greene County, NY.²⁷² She appeared in the census in 1830 in Sidney, Delaware County, NY.²⁷⁴ Lucinda appeared in the census in 1840 in Unadilla, Otsego County, NY.²⁷⁵ She appeared in the census in September 1850 in Salisbury Township, Herkimer County, NY.²⁷⁹ She appeared in the census in June 1855 in Stratford, Fulton County, NY.²⁸¹ Lucinda appeared in the census in June 1860 in Stratford, Fulton County, NY.²⁷⁷ She lived in Stratford, Fulton County, NY in 1865.³⁶² She appeared in the census in 1870 in Salisbury Township, Herkimer County, NY.³⁶⁰ Lucinda lived in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI between 1874 and 1876.³⁶³ She died on 18 October 1876 at the age of 68 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^{5,358,359,361,363} Obituary Notes: "In Tomah, Wis., October 18th, 1876, of heart disease, Mrs. Lucinda Ferrell, in the 68th year of her age.

Mrs. Ferrell had resided in Tomah about two years, and a large circle of relatives and friends, with the community at large, mourn her departure from this life. Let all be happy in the thought that she has passed the river, beyond which cares and sorrows are unknown." She was buried in 1876 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^358,359,364 in the Oak Grove Cemetery (Section OP, Block 3, Lot 21).

Her and her husband's cemetery spaces were was purchased on 21 Oct 1876 by "B. Ferrell"--probably her husband, Bill. The entire plot that contained the gravesites for her and her husband (OP, 3, 21) was purchased by J. J. Kibbe (possible relationship unknown).

Lucinda GRIGGS and William W. "Bill" FERRELL Sr. were married about 1829 in Delaware County, NY.^274,276,361 William W. "Bill" FERRELL Sr.³⁶⁵ was born in 1806 in Delaware County, NY.^{238,281,343,358,360,361} (Information from his gravestone in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.)

(According to the 1880 Census, his father was born in New York and his mother in Pennsylvania.) He appeared in the census in 1830 in Sidney, Delaware County, NY.²⁷⁴ Page 1 of the Sidney Census includes the listing of "William Ferrie," age 20-30, and a female, age 20-30. That is believed to have been him and his wife, Lucinda Griggs.

There are no Griggs families listed in the Census for Sidney, so it is not known where her parents may have lived.

. He appeared in the census in 1840 in Unadilla, Otsego County, NY.²⁷⁵ His household consisted of 3 males, age 5-10 (sons Austin, John and Unknown); 1 male, age 30-40 (William); 1 female, age 30-40 (Lucinda); and 1 female, age 60-70 (his mother-in-law, Lucinda Griggs).

Living in the adjacent household of Daniel and Hulda Wood was William's son Homer, age 10, born in Herkimer County, occupation "Servt" (Servant).

William's occupation was "Farmer."
