. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ His surname was spelled "Hellman" and his occupation was "Farmer."

. Francis died about January 1880 at the age of 42.¹ He was killed when the barn that he was building collapsed on him during a terrible storm.

(She and her family cannot be located in the 1870 Census in Wisconsin, even though her children were reportedly born there prior to the census.)

(She was listed as age 81 in the January 1920 Census, so she may have been born in 1839.) She emigrated in June 1867 from Bayern (Bavaria) Province, German Confederation.^1,7 on the ship Amaranth. (The 1920 Census listed her year of emigration as 1859.)
