Harold William LOBE and Mary Margaret SCHALLER were married on 17 August 1946 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 Mary Margaret SCHALLER, daughter of Anton SCHALLER and Margaret SCHAUF, was born on 12 February 1920 in Bangor, La Crosse County, WI.4,28 She died on 5 November 2007 at the age of 87 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,28

Obituary Notes: "Mary Margaret Lobe, age 87, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born on Feb. 12, 1920, to Anton and Margaret (Schauf) Schaller in Bangor, WI. She lived in Bangor until she was 15, when her family moved to Tomah. Mary was a 1938 graduate of Tomah High School.

During WWII, she worked at Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Harold Lobe in August of 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. Together they owned and operated the Butterfly Café for nine years, along with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Helen Lobe. She also waitressed at the Badger Café and the TeePee Supper Club for many years. She worked for many years in housekeeping at the VA, where she retired from in 1983. Mary’s hard work and dedication was never overlooked; she passed her work ethic onto her family whom she cared so deeply for. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, going to shows and playing red, white and blue slots. She enjoyed doing crafts, flower gardening and collecting dolls.

Mary will be greatly missed by her four children, Mary (Raymond) Monroe of Tomah, Tom (Sandy) Lobe of Wisconsin Dells, LuAnn Tautges of Tomah and Rick (Cindy) Lobe of Tomah; 13 grandchildren, Jack Todd, Ray Monroe, Joe Monroe, Krishna Battista, Becky Baumbach, Andrea Johnson, Stephanie Lobe, John Lobe, Dawn Tautges, Christina Lobe, Shannon Riffle, Ricky Lobe and Jason Lobe; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Schaller; three sisters, Henrietta Wich, Marcella Hackett and Norma Broelman, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Harold; her parents; four sisters, Antoinette, Agnes, Veridiana and Lorraine; and three brothers, Herbert, Leo and Hilary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements."
