Mary Ellen LOBE and Raymond MONROE were married on 27 July 1971 in Las Vegas, Clark County, NV.151 Raymond MONROE was born on 8 December 1942 in Houston, Harris County, TX.151 He died on 25 August 2009 at the age of 66 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.151

Obituary Notes: "Raymond Monroe Jr., age 66, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born on Dec.8, 1942, in Houston, TX, to Raymond and Maxine (Roy) Monroe Sr. He was raised in Los Angeles but moved back to Houston where he graduated from Jack Yates High School.

Ray met Mary Lobe in Los Angeles and they were married in Las Vegas, NV, on July 27, 1971. Together they moved to Tomah in 1972. Ray worked at Union Camp for 15 years before becoming a drug and alcohol counselor for ATTIC. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, deer hunting, being a handyman and traveling with Mary to Florida. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Monroe of Tomah; his children, Jack (Lisa) Todd of Reno, NV, Raymond (Jill) Monroe III of Tomah, and Joe (Niki) Monroe of Monroe, WI; grandchildren, Michael, Anastasia, Rhett, Caden, Ryan, Madison, Avery and Drew; a great-granddaughter, Neveah; a sister, Carol Oatis of Freemont, CA; and a cousin, who was like a brother to him, Henry Grayson of Los Angeles, CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Maxine; and a sister, Helen Vance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation today (Thursday), Aug. 27, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements."
