1. Karl Johann "Carl" NEITZEL1 was born on 11 January 1822 in Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,3,4 (His birth place is listed as "Pomerania" in the 1920 Census of his son Herman.) He emigrated on 27 April 1882 from Preussen (Prussia).5,6 They sailed on the SS Rhenania and landed in New York City. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.5 He and his wife were living with their daughter Marie and her family. Carl appeared in the census in 1910 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.6 He was living with his daughter Marie and her family. He died on 16 September 1912 at the age of 90 in Wisconsin.2,4 He was buried in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.4,7 in the St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, South Ridge. (It is possible that the original spelling of his surname was "Noetzel." That was a common name in the Pagelow area of Pomerania in the mid-1800's. It was sometimes written with an umlat above the "o.")

Karl Johann "Carl" NEITZEL and Johanna Sophia "Sophie" ZIETLOW were married about 1840 in Preussen (Prussia).2,5 The 1900 Census indicated that they had 7 children, of whom 5 were still living; they actually had 9, but twin infants died shortly after birth. Johanna Sophia "Sophie" ZIETLOW, daughter of Gottlieb ZIETLOW and (Unknown) BUSS, was born on 9 November 1822 in Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,3,8,9 (Her surname is spelled "Zietlow" on the marriage certificate for her son Hermann, but as "Zeitlow" in the church records of the marriage. The MyHeritage.com website lists it as "Zittlau.") She emigrated in 1882 from Preussen (Prussia).5 She appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.5 Sophie died on 20 May 1906 at the age of 83 in Monroe County, WI.2,4,10 She was buried in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.7 in the St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, South Ridge.

Carl NEITZEL was born on 28 November 1851 in Boltenhagen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (West Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 Boltenhagen is a German seaside resort in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern situated on the Baltic Sea coast 30 km east of Lübeck. It has a wide view of the Bay of Lübeck; a 5 km stretch of a wide and sandy beach, a boardwalk, restaurants and health spas. Boltenhagen is considered to be part of the German Riviera.

(Carl and Maria were quite possibly stillborn twins; apparently there was a difficulty in their delivery, which was 10 days apart.) He died about 28 November 1851 at the age of 0.2

Maria "Marie" NEITZEL was born on 8 December 1851 in Boltenhagen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (West Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 Carl and Maria were quite possibly stillborn twins; apparently there was a difficulty in their delivery 10 days apart. She died about 8 December 1851 at the age of 0.2
