Edward Eugene "Ed" GRIMES was born on 10 October 1915 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.9,16,22,41 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.7 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Cylon Township, St. Croix County, WI.19 He was living in the household of his mother and step-father. Ed appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.42 His household was at 518 West Jackson Street and his occupation was "Sales Clerk, Local Hardware Store." He registered for the Military Draft in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. 23 At the time that he completed his Draft Card, he was living at 518 Jackson Street in Tomah. His employer was Henry Stermer. He lived in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH in 1943.38 He moved his family to the Dayton area and worked as a salesman for the Borden Finch Dairy and, later, United Insurance Company. He served in the military in April 1945 in Florida.38 He was inducted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from Fort Blanding, FL in November 1945. Survived by his mother, Mrs. Molly DeNure of Wisconsin, 1 daughter, Mrs. Edward (Darlene) March of Kettering, 2 sons, Bruce and Rodney both of Bellbrok, 1 sister, Mrs. Lettie Hennessey of Minn., 1 brother, John of Wisconsin, and 7 grandchildren. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, 1632 Wayne Ave,. Rev. Ray Hilty officiating. Interment Valley View Cemetery. Survivors are his mother, Molly DeNure of Neillsville; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Darlene) March of Kettering; two sons, Bruce and Rodney, both of Bellbrooke; one sister, Mrs. Lettie Hennessy of Minnesota; one brother, John of Neillsville; and seven grandchildren. He and his family were former Tomah residents. He was buried beside his wife, the former Florence Hidding, in Valley View Cemetery on June 28, 1978." She appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.52 Florence appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.53 She appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.42 She appeared in the census in 1950 in Van Buren, Montgomery County, OH.44 Her occupation was "Saleslady, Retail Department Store." Between 1954 and 1960 Florence was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.38,45 Her occupation was "Cashier, Kroger's." In 1959–1960 she was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.45 Her occupation was "Cook, James Fedor." After 1960 she was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.54 She helped her husband operate his restaurant/tavern until her death in 1977. She was co-owner of the Zombie Bar and Restaurant. A member of Greenmont Oak Park Church and the Eintracht Club. Survived by her husband, Edward, 1 daughter, Mrs. Edward (Darlene) March of Kettering, 2 sons, Bruce and Rodney, both of Bellbrook, 1 brother, Robert Hidding of Minn., and 7 grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Sat., June 18 at Schleintz Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio. Interment was at Valley View Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Edward; daughter, Mrs. Edward (Darlene) March of Kettering, Ohio; two sons, Rodney and Bruce both of Bellbrook; seven grandchildren, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hidding of St. Paul, Minn. and one brother, Robert Hidding also of St. Paul. Other survivors include one son-in-law and several sisters-in-law. She was a niece of Ralph Hilger, Mrs. Alan Winters, Louis Hidding and Lizzie Mitterreiter of Tomah. The Grimes were former Tomah residents and have many friends in this area."
