9. Edward Eugene "Ed" GRIMES was born on 10 October 1915 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.^9,16,22,41 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ He appeared in the census in 1930 in Cylon Township, St. Croix County, WI.¹⁹ He was living in the household of his mother and step-father. Ed appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴² His household was at 518 West Jackson Street and his occupation was "Sales Clerk, Local Hardware Store." He registered for the Military Draft in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. ²³ At the time that he completed his Draft Card, he was living at 518 Jackson Street in Tomah. His employer was Henry Stermer. He lived in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH in 1943.³⁸ He moved his family to the Dayton area and worked as a salesman for the Borden Finch Dairy and, later, United Insurance Company. He served in the military in April 1945 in Florida.³⁸ He was inducted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from Fort Blanding, FL in November 1945.
Ed served in the military between 30 April 1945 and 3 November 1945 in Columbus, Franklin County, OH.^41,43 He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Fort Hayes. The terms of his enlistment were: "Enlistment for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law." He appeared in the census in 1950 in Van Buren, Montgomery County, OH.⁴⁴ His household was at 103 Bataan Drive and his occupation was "Milkman, Retail Route." In 1955 he was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.⁴⁵ His occupation was "Employee, Borden Co."
In 1957–1959 Ed was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.⁴⁵ His occupation was "Salesman, United Insurance Co." After 1960 he was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.³⁸ From 1960 until his death in 1978, he owned and operated a restaurant/tavern. He died on 25 June 1978 at the age of 62 in Bellbrook, Greene County, OH.^9,41,46,47 Obituary Notes: "Grimes, Edward E., age 62 of 1518 Kensington Dr., Bellbrook died Sunday. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, 1632 Wayne Ave,. Rev. Ray Hilty officiating. Interment Valley View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service Wednesday."

He and his family were former Tomah residents.

Between 1954 and 1960 Florence was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.^38,45 Her occupation was "Cashier, Kroger's." In 1959–1960 she was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.⁴⁵ Her occupation was "Cook, James Fedor." After 1960 she was in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.⁵⁴ She helped her husband operate his restaurant/tavern until her death in 1977. She is survived by her husband, Edward; daughter, Mrs. Edward (Darlene) March of Kettering, Ohio; two sons, Rodney and Bruce both of Bellbrook; seven grandchildren, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hidding of St. Paul, Minn. and one brother, Robert Hidding also of St. Paul.

Other survivors include one son-in-law and several sisters-in-law. She was a niece of Ralph Hilger, Mrs. Alan Winters, Louis Hidding and Lizzie Mitterreiter of Tomah.

The Grimes were former Tomah residents and have many friends in this area." She was buried on 18 June 1977 in Xenia, Greene County, OH.^9,16 in the Valley View Memorial Gardens.
