In the 1870 Census, in the church records of the marriage of his daughter Maria, and in the Oak Grove Cemetery records, his surname was spelled "Kukuk."

The Oak Grove Cemetery records list his birth date as 21 Dec 1836. In the 1900 Census, his birth date was listed as Dec 1835 and his age was 64.)

(It is possible, but has not been confirmed, that the father of Karl was Frederick Kuckuck, born in 1812, from a first marriage.)

"Minnie" SCHWANTZ was born in August 1831 in Preussen (Prussia).^4,5,6,7,11 (Her maiden name is listed as "Schwant" on the church marriage record of her daughter Maria, and as "Schwantz" on the marriage certificate. It is listed as "Schluenz" on the baptism record for her daughter Rosa. Her middle initial "A" is listed on the Death Certificate of her husband. In the 1880 Census, her name was listed as "Minna.")
