Emilie Ernestine "Amelia" MARQUARDT was born on 2 June 1847 in Braunsberg, Naugard, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,14 She emigrated in June 1868 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,6,14,15 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.16 Amelia appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.7 She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.15 She appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.17 Amelia died on 12 October 1928 at the age of 81 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,4 She was buried on 15 October 1928 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,18 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Emilie Ernestine "Amelia" MARQUARDT and Johann Gottlieb WESTPHAL Jr. were married on 20 June 1867 in Kannenberg, Kreis Saatzig, Regierungsbezirk Stettin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,6,11,12,14,19,20 Johann Gottlieb WESTPHAL Jr., son of Johann Gottlieb WESTPHAL and Maria Elizabeth KOEPPE, was born on 5 August 1842 in Schonwalde, Kreis Stolp, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,13,14,20,21 (His surname was listed as "Gottlieb Johann Westphal" in the baptism records of his son August in 1875 and his daughter Ida in 1877, but his surname was listed as "Westpfahl" in the Monroe County Heritage Book article about him and his descendants.) (He may have had a brother named Ernst Friedrich Westphal.) He emigrated in June 1868 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).6,14,15 Between August 1868 and 1909 he was a farmer in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.6,7,14 Gottlieb and Emelie came to America in 1868 and came to their friends, the Brehmers, of Ridgeville, WI. After they were here awhile, they purchased a plot of land that had been obtained from the U.S. government, by Isaac Dennis, in 1855. He then sold it to Oliver and Melissia Perry, January 14, 1856. Gottlieb bought it August 12, 1868. They raised a family of ten children here. In 1905 the farm was divided between sons August and Albert. Albert retained the original homestead. Johann was Lutheran on 29 March 1869 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.14,19,22 when he became a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was listed as member number 52 of the first 100 members of the congregation.

He helped organize St. John's Congregation of Ridgeville and served as a trustee. His son-in-law, William Matthews, and his son, Albert, were two of the carpenters who helped build the present church.

He and his family were listed in the church Communion Records in the early-1890's.

He appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.17 His household was in the Second Ward. He died on 12 November 1921 at the age of 79 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,4,18 (The Oak Grove Cemetery records list his surname as "Westfahl.") Johann was buried on 15 November 1921 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,18 in Oak Grove Cemetery.
